NA is a fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We meet regularly to help each other stay clean.
“We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean.” – Basic Text, Introduction.
Attend meetings, listen for someone with whom you can relate, and ask them directly. Many members are open to sponsorship and can guide you through the process.
“We must be willing to go to any lengths to find recovery.” – Basic Text, Chapter 6.
NA meetings are free; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
“There are no dues or fees for NA membership.” – Basic Text, Chapter 2.
Anyone with a desire to stop using drugs can become a member.
“The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.” – Basic Text, Chapter 2.
Your first NA meeting in Nashville will likely involve readings from NA literature and personal sharing sessions, with participation being completely voluntary. Anonymity is a core principle, ensuring attendees’ privacy.
“We are not interested in what or how much you used… only in what you want to do about your problem and how we can help.” – Basic Text, Introduction.
What’s most important is taking the step to attend your first meeting, even if you aren’t clean at that moment. Everyone is welcome if they are seeking help. Many members have found strength and support just by showing up, no matter their state.
“The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using. We suggest that you keep an open mind and give yourself a break.” – Basic Text, Introduction.
